Mount Kenya Trekking Itineraries
Our well researched choice of Mount Kenya Climbing itineraries built on the ground and tested over 30 years by our team of Guides, Porters and Cooks
The Pinnacle Journey
This itinerary uses a gentle ascent track that’s also very spectacular. It passes through montane forest, bamboo and heather zones to glaciers, then down past crevasses, jagged peaks, and scree to connect with the Teleki Valley. Sirimon to Naro Moru is the most common traverse on Mt. Kenya
Summit Serenity
This combination of routes is rated as one of the most spectacular, passing through montane forest, bamboo, and heather zones to glaciers, then down past spectacular chasms, jagged peaks, and the glaciated “U” shaped valleys and waterfalls.
Majestic Ascent
A distinct, unhurried, and gradual trek to the hiker’s summit – 4,985 m. This itinerary allows you to hike up in the opposite direction to a great majority of other Mount Kenya trekkers. It combines two of the most splendid routes on the mountain and offers a unique opportunity to experience the memorable gorge that’s an explicit landmark along this route.
Untamed Beauty
A green route up to the peaks, little known to a majority of Mt. Kenya trekkers. This is the one route we take great pride in, having put it back to use ourselves after more than 30 years of disuse. The route was pioneered during colonial days and then abandoned for many years until it was re-opened by our guides in the early 90s.
Majestic Traverse
This route uses the gentlest ascent track on the mountain, with an additional acclimatization day option at 4,200 m. It is also one of the most scenic routes. You will pass through montane forest, bamboo, and heather zones, ascend to glaciers, and then descend past spectacular chasms, jagged peaks, glaciated “U”-shaped valleys, waterfalls, and lush rainforests.
Summit Dash
A quick trek to Mount Kenya that’s only recommended for the well-acclimatised and energetic mountain hikers. It is a challenging hike to the summit following straightforward paths and making use of accommodation huts located along the way.
