Masai Mara and Rift Valley Lakes Safari - 5 Days

Follow conventional tourist routes and include accommodation in budget hotels where these are available.

 

Day 1:Arrival in Nairobi at 2.00 pm and transferred to Rock House (www.rockhousekaren.com).

Activities:
1. Walk to the Giraffe Centre (approx. 3 hrs to & fro) to learn about conservation and close interaction with giraffes
2. Bird watching.

After dinner briefing by our naturalist guide/instructor.

Overnight at Rock House - Karen

 

Day 2: Drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara arriving at Mara Springs Safari Camp. (www.maraspringscamp.com)

Activities:
1. Stop over at a breath taking Rift Valley view point for lecture on its formation different features.
2. Lecture on Masai Cultural history and socio economic impact brought about by civilisation.
3. Learn about the habits of the Masai people - Use of plants etc
4. Evening Game Drive in the world famous Masai Mara Game Reserve
5. Learn about the various wildlife, their habits and habitats.
6. From July to September, the Mara is home to the great wildebeest migration from Tanzania. 

Overnight at Mara Springs Safari Camp.

Day 3: Morning and evening game drive in the park.

Activities
1. Take an extensive tour of the Masai Mara.
2. Search for the Big 5.
3. Learn about the game - animals and birds 
4. P
icnic lunch at the Hippo Pool where you can watch hippos gracefully swim or bask lazily.

Dinner and overnight at the Camp.

Day 4: Drive from Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha - a fresh water lake at the base of the Rift Valley. 

Activities:

1. Morning Game drive in Masai
2. Learn the Ecology of Lake Naivasha - Fishing and horticultural activities
3. Boat ride with hippos
4. Learn about the birds species

5.Walk in near by cresent Island

Day 5: 2 optional visit to Hell's gate Game Park. 

Activities at Hell's gate:

1. Walk or bike among game
2. Geothermal power generation plant tour.
3. Walk in gorges and studying the geysers.

Drive back  to Nairobi.

 

Short Wildlife Safaris

3 days wildlife safaris in Kenya's Amboseli, Mara and Samburu

 

Amboseli Wildlife Safari - 3 Days

Day 1: Leave Nairobi early and drive southeastwards to Amboseli National Park. With its backdrop of the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest mountain) and the abundant wildlife, Amboseli is a real spectacle. This is where you can see large herds of elephants and plains game, giraffes, gazelles, lions, leopards etc roaming the plains. Dinner and overnight bush camp

Day 2: Whole day on game drives in the park. Optional two-hour visit (at an extra cost) to a Maasai village ("Manyatta") to learn more about the local people's culture. Dinner and overnight bush camp

Day 3: Early morning game drive then return to Nairobi.

Masai Mara Wildlife Safari - 3 Days
Day 1: Leave Nairobi at 9.00am for a 4-5 hour drive to Masai Mara. Lunch then do an afternoon game drive. Or hike with a local Maasai guide to the summit of the nearby Naunare hills for sundowner. From the hilltop you can enjoy a panoramic view of the expansive Mara ecosystem. Dinner and overnight Mara Springs Safari Camp

Day 2: Take an extensive tour of the Masai Mara. Leaving shortly after dawn, you spend the whole day driving through different locations of the Reserve, watching and learning about different species of animals from our expert guide. Take a break from the mid day heat to have picnic lunch beside the Hippo Pool as you watch hippos swim or bask lazily. By the time you return to the camp in the evening, you've hopefully seen the elephant, the rhino, the lion, the giraffe, the hippo, the buffalo, the zebra, the leopard and a lot of other species including birds. Dinner and overnight Mara Springs Safari Camp

Day 3: Two-hour pre-breakfast game drive from dawn, the best time to see any animals you may have missed yesterday. Return to the camp for breakfast then drive back to Nairobi, arriving in late afternoon. Picnic lunch is served en route.

Samburu Wildlife Safari - 3 Days

Day 1: Leave Nairobi in the morning for a 3 hour drive to Mountain Rock Lodge (Mt Kenya) for lunch, then a further 3-4 hours drive north to Samburu Game Reserve. On arrival, do a late afternoon game drive en route to our camp by the river banks. Dinner and overnight bush camp

Day 2: Whole day of game drives in Samburu. Samburu park which straddles the Ewasongiro River is the most renowned representative of semi-arid parks in Kenya. Some endemic animals found here are found no where else on our tour circuit. These include the reticulated girrafe, jackson hartebeest, gravy zebra and gerenuk among others.  During the hot hours of the day you retire in one of the lodge for a swim or drink at extra charge. Dinner and overnight bush camp

Day 3: Morning game drive as we leave the Reserve for a drive back to Mountain Rock Lodge for lunch. Later return to Nairobi.
